It appears there is a huge black market for counterfeit water filters. Who would’ve believed such a thing? I myself assumed that GE packaging (logo, filter housing print, etc.) indicated an authentic factory made filter… which is why I started asking our GE rep about the “OEM MWF” water filters being sold online for prices below our cost direct from GE!

And just because a filter fits in the filter housing and allows water through it does NOT mean the filtration is equal. Take a look at GE’s test results in the video below.
