Speed Queen is a great American company with a weird history. At one time they were a leader in the laundry industry- and they’re trying to make a comeback- but after several odd aquisitions (sometimes in name only) many parts for Speed Queen designed machines are now available from more than one source. The latest *other* manufacturer holding the bag is Whirlpool. And, for the dryer drum roller featured here, your dryer may have Speed Queen, Amana, Maytag or even Whirlpool on the label!
Speed Queen’s part number for this drum roller is 510708P. The 510708P roller replaces old Speed Queen number 500214 as well as Whirlpool 37001042.
In dryers that use this roller, normally two are located in the rear of the dryer supporting the drum. The bearing inside the roller will wear out long before the roller shaft (normally only the rollers ever need to be replaced). When these rollers start going bad the dryer will sometimes sound like there are tennis shoes rolling around in it (bumping and thudding as it spins).
